Good food begins with good training.

We’re reimagining how to train people who work in professional kitchens.

Right now, there’s no universal standard for what a foodservice professional should know before they start working in a kitchen, let alone what skills they need to advance in their career. As a result, adherence to basic food safety and culinary best practices can vary widely. This is true across all types of foodservice establishments, from fine dining restaurants to school cafeterias, and can lead to unsafe practices, subpar and inconsistent food quality, and inefficient processes. Yet, there are limited options for people to get trained. Culinary school is time-consuming and expensive while successfully learning on the job isn’t guaranteed and can disrupt operations.

That’s where KtchnQualified comes in.

KtchnQualified (KQ) is a certificate program that aims to standardize training for people who work in professional kitchens. It consists of four courses, the KtchnQualified Course, KQ II, KQ III, and KQ IV, and offers individual certificates for each course in a vertical stack.

The KtchnQualified Course

We start with the KtchnQualified Course, which covers the food safety standards and introductory culinary skills every foodservice professional should know and abide by.

Learners who attend the training in its entirety and pass the summative assessments earn the KtchnQualified Certificate and become KtchnQualified. This is a lifetime designation. Additionally, learners may use the ANAB-accredited certificate to fulfill a local food handler card requirement for three years from the issue date.

KQ II

Next, in KQ II, we dive into cold food preparation and advanced knife skills

KQ III

In KQ III, we focus on introductory cooking methods, such as boiling and blanching, safe handling of raw proteins, and batch cooking.

KQ IV

Lastly, in KQ IV, we focus on advanced cooking methods, such as braising, steaming, and sautéing, advanced problem solving techniques, refining flavors and presentation, and cooking to order.
